Wild Game Processing

ATTN GUN HUNTERS: We are not accepting whole deer for processing. We are only accepting boneless trim. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Whole Carcass Drop Off Process

Must haves before dropping off:

  • The deer MUST be registered PRIOR to coming to Crescent Meats for further processing
  • Confirmation number for the registered deer
  • A plan of how you are wanting the deer to be processed so team members are able to help walk you through cutting instructions at the time of drop off (hyperlink below with brochure of products and prices)
    • Ex: A basic cut of tenderloin, chops, steaks, roasts and ground venison or are you wanting to have sausage products made
    • There is a 10# minimum batch size during season and 25# batch size out of season
    • Please note Crescent Meats does combine all trimmings together in order to offer smaller minimum quantities for sausage products
    • A down payment is required at the time off drop off for the cutting/packaging fee.

Our Process

  • Unloading/Cutting Instructions:
    • Personnel dropping off wild game must check into the retail area prior to unloading in the designated area – this step is a very important! We do this to ensure all customer information is properly documented including cutting instructions, tag number and carcass tag. We fill out a carcass tag with the customer name, tag number, date and if the deer is needing to be caped or have the horns sawed. We do this so the customer is receiving the correct animal back and having the correct caping done if requested. If you are wanting to have the horns sawed off we are able to do that at the time off drop off also.
    • Cutting instructions are due at the time of drop off.
      • New to having wild game processed? Don’t worry about it! Our trained team members will walk you through the process step by step to ensure you are getting the cuts and products that best suits your family.
      • Processing: Once the deer are skinned, thoroughly trimmed/washed and the carcass tag with the customer information is reapplied, they are transferred into the cooler. Crescent Meats will use their expertise to determine the cutting order of animals to ensure high quality meats. When cutting the deer our employees are trained to trim any unwanted fat, blood clots, etc from the meat.
      • Packaging: After the carcass is cut to the specified instructions all cuts will be vacuum packaged, to prolong shelf life, put into a box with the customer’s name and order number and stored in our freezer. Ground venison and sausage products will be poly-clipped, vacuum sealed or rollstocked and added into the customers box(es).
      • Pick-up: Once the customer order is completed and fully frozen, Crescent Meats will either text, email or call to inform the customer that their order is ready. The customer will have a week to pick up their order before a $10 weekly storage fee will be applied. Since Crescent Meats already has the customer order put into boxes, there is no need to bring coolers or boxes of your own to take home the completed order. Crescent Meats team members will assist loading the customer’s boxes into their vehicle.

  • FAQ: Will I get my own meat back?
    • Each customer will receive their own cuts (tenderloin, chops, steaks, roasts) back from the deer they dropped off, however, Crescent Meats combines all trimmings and jerky meats together in order to process large quantities at a time and so we can offer smaller minimum batches. Our trained team members thoroughly inspect the meat and trim any unwanted fat, etc. to create high quality products.
